A public Montessori education is worth choosing.

CHML offers Montessori education through a public school serving families across Washington, DC. That access is worth protecting.

Current families have raised concerns about shorter work periods and the addition of district curricula. The campaign is seeking written commitments about what families can expect in the 2027–28 school year.

Three questions to take on your school tour

  1. How much uninterrupted work time will children have?

    What is the scheduled length of the uninterrupted morning work period at CHML for the 2027–28 school year, by grade?

  2. Who will lead each classroom?

    How many classrooms in PK3 through third grade will be led by a teacher holding an AMI diploma for that age level?

  3. What recognition will the program hold?

    Will CHML hold Association Montessori Internationale Recognition for the 2027–28 school year? Ask for current documentation and the plan for maintaining it.

Ask on your school tour. Ask the enrollment office. Ask in writing, so you have the answer when you rank your schools.
